Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and is required for all students who wish to enroll in tap, jazz and/or lyrical technique. At age 8, students move from the creative dance approach into classical training. Each class will build on basic fundamentals of our children's dance program while increasing knowledge of terminology, flexibility, strength in feet, legs, arms and core. In addition, dancers will develop musicality and strong artistic performance skills.
En Pointe (dancing on your toes) is an advanced technique that has a ballet enrollment requirement. Beginning at age 10, interested students can begin to explore Pointe in a pre-pointe class. Pre-Pointe and Beginner Pointe classes focus on the development of foot and ankle strength required for successful transition from the barre, to center floor, to stage performances. Students En Pointe take a minimum of 2 hours of ballet technique and 1 hour of pointe technique a week and are the only students who perform En Pointe in our annual recital.
